Scholarship Overview

The YFC committee will select one exemplary fencer to receive the Youth Fencing Chicago’s En Garde Merit Scholarship of $1500. The selected student must demonstrate financial need, academic excellence, extracurricular achievement, leadership, and commitment to their communities.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be enrolled full-time at one of the Chicago high schools during the 2024-2025 academic school year.
  • Demonstrate a financial need.
  • Demonstrate academic rigor. Current cumulative grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities.
  • Must not have previously received a YFC Grant or Scholarship.

All Applicants Must:

Answer the following statement:

  • Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it.

Application Dates
