Volunteering
We are excited that you are interested in joining our team and helping us make a difference. We want you you to know, you don’t have to be a fencer to help. Youth Fencing Chicago has a simple mission and to succeed we need to provide these kids access to the equipment and resources they need to develop, change and thrive.
As a volunteer with Youth Fencing Chicago, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of Chicago kids. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available, including:
- Assisting in the Resource Center: YFC receives a lot of fencing gear donations. As a volunteer, you can help us sort, organized, and document inventory and ensure that the equipment is at the standards of dignity, excellence and safety.
- Event Planning: Help plan and execute events, such as our Fence-A-Thon, Gear up for Summer, and other fundraising campaigns or cultural events, to raise awareness and support for our cause.
- Counseling: Not all kids will need fencing assistant. Some kids just need an ear to listen to.
- Advocacy: Join our advocacy efforts by helping to educate the public about the challenges facing underserved kids and advocating for fencing policies that support their rights and well-being.
- Earn service hours: If you are a high school student, the time can be counted towards your service learning hours. Service learning enables students to engage with the community while building social, civic, and academic skills.
No matter what your skillset or availability, there is a volunteer opportunity for you at Youth Fencing Chicago. We provide all volunteers with comprehensive training and support to ensure you feel confident and prepared in your role.
Join us today and make a meaningful difference in the lives of chicago kids in our community. Sign up to volunteer now using the form this or by emailing us directly at info@youthfencingchicago.com
